- All NJ high schools with varsity fencing programs are members of the NJIFA
- The membership of NJIFA includes some schools who are not members of the NJSIAA

- Cetrulo Boys' Relay Championships
- Santelli Girls' Relay Championships
- Carpenter Freshman-Sophomore Individual Tournament, discontinued after 2007

- Morris Knolls Freshman-Sophomore Invitational Tournament, last week of December
- Bergen-Passaic League's Freshman-Sophomore Tournament, 3rd weekend of February
- Skyland Conference Freshman-Sophomore Tournament, 1st weekend of February
- Montclair Freshman/Sophomore Invitational Tournament, 3rd weekend of February
- Passaic County Championships
- Prep School Championships, middle of the week during school break in February

Other Functions of the NJIFA
- Organize and hold the NJSCA/NJIFA Coaches' Clinic each fall
- Hold two coaches' organizational meetings, pre- and post-season
- Name the NJIFA All-State Teams and Coaches of the Year
- Work closely with the NJSIAA to help manage the District and State HS Championships
- Work with the Conferences to establish their freshman-sophomore tournaments
- Set state-wide policies for NJ high school fencing
